Advanced compressed air energy storage
Hydrostor is a developer of utility-scale energy storage facilities using its proprietary Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) technology. A-CAES is unique in its ability to provide long-duration, non-emitting, cost-effective bulk energy storage that can be flexibly sized and sited, enabling direct replacement of fossil generation and the integration of renewables. The technology has the ability to transform unutilized mining infrastructure into best-in-class energy storage systems that help mines manage their energy use and reduce their environmental footprint. Hydrostor combines mining techniques with state-of-the-art mechanical systems to produce a zero-emissions, grid-scale energy storage system using compressed air. A-CAES can serve the electricity grid and mining operations alike, reducing operational costs and providing legacy mines with new revenue opportunities. Hydrostor has three projects in operation or under construction in Canada and Australia, and numerous utility-scale projects (50 MW – 500 MW) in advanced development across the U.S., Canada, Australia and Chile.
