MSTA CANADA's The DIG - Episode 1

The Dig Episode 1

May 28, 2020 – Mississauga, ON – The Mining Suppliers Trade Association Canada (MSTA CANADA), the national organization representing the Mining Supply and Services (MSS) industry, is pleased to announce the launch of “The Dig,” a weekly news and events videocast that delves deep into the most timely and relevant stories about the mining supply and services sector.

The inaugural episode of “The Dig,” released May 28, 2020, features a timely interview with Gabriel Janakaraj, Business Development Manager at Ionic Mechatronics. The Sudbury-based company’s products are traditionally used by large mining operations around the globe. But the COVID-19 pandemic has led the company to explore new markets with their sophisticated thermal scanning technology that detects, in seconds, whether a person has a fever allowing companies control the spread of infection. Ryan sits down with Gabriel to talk about what makes Ionic’s solution unique and the challenges involved in pivoting from a mining-based clientele to a broader, industry-agnostic market.

This is just one of many examples of how the mining supply and services sector is reaching out with innovative ways to help communities and businesses across the country — and just one example of how the new show will “dig into” important and interesting stories.

Upcoming episodes of “The Dig” will feature companies that have transitioned their products or services into the healthcare industry in response to the pandemic, and those who are going above and beyond to help their communities. It will also look at industry trends and challenges and how companies in the mining supply and services sector are responding and innovating to the new normal.

Ryan McEachern, Managing Director of MSTA CANADA, says, “There are a lot of interesting and important stories out there from our sector right now, and at the same time there’s a lack of coherent coverage in an accessible medium. Thanks to our many contacts, MSTA CANADA has a broad perspective of what is going on in the industry and we’re on top of what is interesting and relevant. Creating this video show is the logical next step in keeping our members — and everyone in the industry — informed about what is important.

The show is produced by Bryan Bolan , a 20-year veteran in broadcasting and video production. Says Ryan, “We are really excited and fortunate to have someone of Bryan’s caliber and experience producing our show.”
